[SOLD-OUT] Yeringberg Pinot Noir 2020

"PERFUMED WITH AN EARTHY, OLD-VINE COMPLEXITY." - WINE COMPANION

“A light–medium ruby red. Perfumed with an earthy, old-vine complexity and spices such as clove, cinnamon and nutmeg. Delicate raspberry and cherry fruit on the palate, with a subtle backbone of tannin ensuring this will age effortlessly over the next 5–10 years.” - Wine Companion

"The Pinot vines were planted from 1969 to 1974, so are now well and truly mature and always low yielding. We have 2 different clones of Pinot Noir; MV6 and a clone originally from Great Western (known as the Rutherglen clone). The vines produced tiny bunches and tiny quantities in 2020, with lovely flavours.

The grapes were handpicked, sorted, destemmed and crushed into small open fermenters. Fermentation started after two days and reached 32ºC, which helped to extract maximum flavour, colour and tannins. The grapes were pressed after 8 days on skins, and then racked to barrels in early Apil after malolactic fermentation. It was matured in Burgundian oak barrels, and racked twice to naturally clarify the wine during the 18 months barrel maturation. It was bottled without fining or filtration." - Yeringberg
