"Ferdinand Vorwerk first settled in Eden Valley in 1860. He planted a small vineyard of Shiraz in 1880 and the Poonawatta story began. The property changed hands in 1890 and again in 1922, and in 1966 the property was acquired by the Holt family... 147 years after the family first settled in Eden Valley, and with a history built on six generations of Eden Valley heritage, we released the first Poonawatta wines in 2002... The Poonawatta wine portfolio consists of Estate Wines grown on the Poonawatta property, and Regional Wines made from vineyards across the four corners of Eden Valley.
