Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant is the McWilliams family’s beachhead in the Hunter Valley, and home to a stable of classic, traditional wines made from ancient and historic vineyards. Its efforts with semillon under the Elizabeth and Lovedale labels are the stuff of legend, while the rustic, earthy and typically regional reds from the OP & OH and Rosehill Vineyards can be spectacular. It would be interesting to see what the historic red vineyards might be able to do given a slightly more protective winemaking regime, for I can’t help feeling that they never really see their ultimate potential.Jeremy Oliver, onwine

Maurice O'Shea didn't plant the first vines at Mount Pleasant, but he was the one who gave it the name, set up the winery, made the first wine and turned it into a legend. If you have a cellar going, this would be a fair choice for it. It tastes...

Sally Gudgon 5 stars!"An outstanding vintage of a Hunter Valley classic, made mostly from 126-year-old vines that produce remarkably concentrated fruit. It's earthy and intense and thanks to its firm, rie tannins, this is one wine that's built to last...
