[SOLD-OUT] Mount Pleasant Maurice O'Shea Shiraz 2006

Maurice O'Shea didn't plant the first vines at Mount Pleasant, but he was the one who gave it the name, set up the winery, made the first wine and turned it into a legend.
If you have a cellar going, this would be a fair choice for it. It tastes noticeably of resiny, spicy, toffeed oak, but there are sweet, intense cherry-berry fruit flavours too, along with vanilla and cloves. The region's trademark earth characters are hidden underneath the covers, waiting for their time to come. It's a powerful wine with firm, powdery, mouth-coating tannins, and it lingers for a good long time after you swallow. It needs time for the oak to settle, but it is an excellent Hunter shiraz. It deserves a long-ish sleep first.
