Domaine de la Romanee Conti

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti: the most iconic wine in the world? Onomatopoeically regal, a novice would feel some instinctive feeling of grandeur uttering those syllables. Alas, the wine is so rare, so sought after and let us be frank, so prohibitively expensive; that mere utterance is as close as most people get to DRC. I have been fortunate; privileged to attend agency tasting and encountering mature bottles at various dinners and lunches with benevolent merchants. Whenever a bottle has appeared, it evokes a primal, emotion response, indeed its price-tag tends to fade into the background when the wine itself is tasted. You see, the wines from DRC are not made to impress: they give pleasure, they are bottles surfeit with enjoyment.www.wine-journal.com
