Lawson's Shiraz is named after Robert Lawson, an early pioneer of Padthaway in the south east of South Australia. The region has established a reputation as one of Australia's leading cool climate grape growing districts that now rivals its near neighbour, Coonawarra.Lawson's is a single vineyard wine with fruit picked from the original 2.8 hectare block planted 33 years ago. The vineyard's deep, sandy soil partially stresses the vines, giving rise to low yields of exceptional quality.Since it was first released in 1990, Lawson's has established itself as one of Australia's outstanding red wines, having won 23 trophies and more than 134 gold medals in Australian and international wine shows. It has helped create Australia's reputation for high quality shiraz. In recognition of its quality, Lawson's has now been included in Langton's prestigious Classification of Distinguished Australian Wine. www.orlandowines.com.au
