95-97 points Robert Parker - 20+ Noon wines

Noon Winery is a small family-owned business mainly specialising in full-bodied reds from McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. Its Reserve Shiraz has achieved very high ratings from Robert M Parker. Noon Winery does not produce any white wines though they do make a dry Rose. Drew Noon is one of the only 24 people in Australia to become a Master of Wine - which he undertook in order to learn more about the wines of the world and winemaking. Noon loves what he does: he relishes the personal effort, along with that of family and friends, at every stage of the production process. Increased production is not an aim, for the sake of ensuring ongoing quality. Noon is a small-batch maker with 5.7 hectares of estate vineyard (1972).

"Drew and wife Raegan Noon returned to McLaren Vale and purchased Noon's from Drew's parents in 1996. Drew had previously spent many years as a consultant oenologist and viticulturist in Vic, and thereafter a time as winemaker at Cassegrain. His rich red wines have a loyal following, and are eagerly snapped up by customers on the mailing list." - James Halliday

Robert Parker 98 Points! The 1997 Shiraz Reserve comes close to resembling a dry vintage port. One of the most concentrated wines I have ever tasted (reminiscent of the Clarendon Hills Astralis), yields were not low at 3.5 tons per acre, but the 35-year...
