"Tight, picture-perfect Chardonnay nose of green melon and white peach. Tight as. Real Goldilocks ripeness here, the flavours grapefruity and primary but hinting at much more. Importantly, this has flavour but no shortage of acidity, the finish precise, the length excellent... The balance is absolutely spot on. Excellent modern Chardonnay in an acid driven – but not anaemic – style."

"It’s lean and lemony with chalky accents and top notes of spice. It races through the palate and then, through the back half, it kicks with white peach and roasted/toasted spice flavour; and that’s where the wonder lies."

"Montalto are Chardonnay specialists on the Mornington Peninsula. The grapes for this wine are grown on the estate's oldest plantings, 30 year old vines. Montalto aim for a precise landing spot for their Chardonnay: complexity, concentration and finesse. It is that deliciously seductive style that is modern yet not shy. It has flavours of citrus (pith and fruit), toasty cashew, minerality, floral notes and struck match. There is so much going on here already, it will be fascinating to see where this wine goes with 2-3 years cellaring. It is hard to beat now, but it will be a knockout then."
