Charles Heidsieck Rose N.V.

AN ELEGANT AND COMPLEX ROSE FROM AN ICONIC CHAMPAGNE PRODUCER RESPECTED BY THOSE 'IN THE KNOW'

"In the glass you will be greeted by an alluring pink colour with luminous glints throughout its core. Effortlessly carried by a steady stream of vivacious bubbles, the result of an ageing period of over 4 years. The nose along with the judicious colour is subtle, though does eloquently reveal aromas of home-made strawberry jam tarts with wild red berries, cherries, ripe blood peaches, and a subtle note of shortbread with a dusting of cinnamon.

These all join forces on the generous palate showcasing with defined precision timely flavours bursting with strawberries, raspberries, cherries, wild flowers and subtle hints of allspice and a bright seam of acidity keeping any of these vibrant characters from falling short of the bright and refreshing finish." - Grape to Glass

"It’s a fey salmon pink with a spumy pour and a buzzy bead. The aromas mix biscuit, honey, almond, and brioche with berry fruits. The texture is animated, expansive and foamy, carrying flavors of cherries, strawberries, and roasted nut. The finish is coating, accented with cherry cordial and hazelnut. It’s opulent, generous, lavish, but also offers freshness amid the savoriness and luxury." - Terroir Review

"The Rosé Réserve is the result of meticulous attention and stands out for its unconventional character. It is also the result of juices from the first press only and, the wine benefits from a slow and long maturation of 3 to 4 years, far beyond the norms of the region. 80% of the year’s wines are composed of equal portions of Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, while the 20% of reserve wines are made up of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay. Each are vinified cru by cru, varietal by varietal, in stainless steel vats.

To ensure the ideal balance of freshness and elegance on one hand and structure and complexity on the other, the Cellar Master bides by a House principle, intentionally selecting reserve wines that are younger than those of the Brut Réserve. The red reserve wines, from the leading Pinot Noir terroirs, date from up to 5 years before the last harvest.

5 to 6% of wines vinified in red provide tannins and the fragrance of red fruits, a base upon which the Cellar Master will subtly develop a full-bodied, voluptuous rosé.
The nose reveals initial fragrances of home-made strawberry jam mixed with the fruitiness of vineyard peaches and warm velvety notes of Gingerbread. The palate is deep and with powerful mouthfeel offering a burst of strawberry, raspberry and blackberry nestled in velvety whipped cream." - Charles Heidsiek
