Jancis Robinson 17.5/20 Points!

Variety: 100% Garnacha

Jancis Robinson 17.5 Points!
"Very bright ruby colour, translucent. On the nose you find raspberries, strawberries, flowers, aromatic herbs, some spice, a touch of meat. In the mouth it is light, almost ethereal, easy and pleasant to drink, with an elegant rusticity and a strong sense of terroir and minerality. Fluid and earthy, with a silky texture, straight, delineated, longer than rounder, with a very good balance. It evolves well in the glass in a very elegant style."
Jancis Robinson, Purple Pages May 2012

"Considered a Grenache for Burgundy drinkers, this 100% old vine Garnacha is elegant and pure, coming from the "warm day, cool night" foothills of the Sierra de Gredos. Influenced by the biodynamic wines of the Loire and Bugundy, Bodega Maranones ferment naturally with ambient yeasts, gentle vinification, a small proportion of stems, and always using neutral (big volume and used) oak. This preserves the delicious fruit flavour and minerality of the wine. This single-vineyard, top range Marañones is one of the best Spanish 100% Garnachas of 2010."
