Wine List/Yeringberg

[SOLD-OUT] Yeringberg Shiraz 2010

"Grown on a single vineyard from vines planted in 1999. 97% Shiraz, 3% Viognier, cofermented in small open top tanks, 25% new French oak, 19 months in barrel... Such a smoky, meaty wine. Right up my alley. Fresh, sweet plums and dark cherries with white pepper threaded throughout. Boom of spicy fragrance. Deserves a big glass and a bit of time to unfurl."
Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front, May 2012

"A blend of 97% Shiraz and 3% Viognier, co-fermented in small open top tanks and then aged in French oak, 25% new, for 19 months, the 2010 Shiraz gives a medium to deep garnet-purple color with notes of ripe red cherries, blackberries and cassis over hints of menthol, cedar, anise and cloves. A pleasant savory character comes through on the palate supported by lively acid and a medium to firm level of rounded tannins, finishing long. Approachable now, it should soften and expand over the next 5-7 years and drink to 2020+."
Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate #201 Jun 2012

"Cool, savoury, peppery and meaty, with blueberry fruit and floral violet aromatics " there's a lot going on here. Come back later and it's developed a sweetness, a black tea and liquorice-laden perfume, and wonderful sappy, bitter chocolate richness and structure."
