"It would be fair to say that the band of Yarra Valley pioneers – Yarra Yering, Mount Mary, Yeringberg and Wantirna Estate – are all in terrific form. As indeed is Seville Estate.
This is a superb wine. I was completely taken aback. Opening a bottle is like slipping into formal wear and dolling yourself up. It feels, tastes and smells special. It’s satiny, it’s polished with oak, it sets out plot points and then walks you through various escapades of herbs, twigs, spices and fruits, the setting a forest, the genre drama. The word mineral, or minerality, is a controversial one in wine and rightly so, but some wines just walk you straight to the rock. This Yarra Yering Pinot Noir is one such. Put it this way: I served this and another high class pinot noir to The Wine Writer’s Wife, without showing her the labels, and asked her which one she preferred. She said, I love the both, but that one’s better. She then pointed to this Yarra Yering and said, Give that one 100. It is a knockout pinot."

"Four clones, hand-picked and sorted destemmed to small stainless steel tea chests with some stalk return, gently plunged, pressed to French oak (30% new) for 10 months. They're certainly more nimble on their feet, and they're absolutely varietal. I won't be around to see how this part new/part old approach works, but I'm certain the wine will be superb."
