"Produced from what are amongst the oldest Pinot Noir vines in the Yarra Valley, this wine, along with the Chardonnay, has developed an underground following over its existence that is slowly burgeoning to be recognised as standing in equipollence alongside the, historically, more fancied wines from the estate. Eschewing current oenological trend and fashion, the fruit is largely handled in its usual manner, favouring partial crushing and a short cuvaison as integral tools in the preservation & expression of vineyard elements in concert with its startling varietal character without cluttering the argument with too much extraneous activity or skin time. Aristocratic, fragrant, intensely perfumed, voluptuous, sweet strawberry/plum richness, anise, beetroot, silky in texture, richness, round, soft and mouthfilling to the end. Also, has the rare ability to gain from bottle age rather than diminish."
