Thirteen years on lees!
"This intriguing vintage sparkling from Yarra Yering is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes picked from their 1984 plantings. Produced by the late Dr Carrodus, the wine was tiraged at Domaine Chandon and then cellared at Yarra Yering to complete bottle fermentation. Interestingly, however, knowledge of the wine seemed to slip from memory and it was only rediscovered when Paul Bridgeman took up his position as chief winemaker in 2008. This 1995 vintage is thus somewhat of a rarity having been aged on lees for 13 years! The result is a golden-coloured, full-flavoured, masculine sparkling akin to those from the iconic Champagne houses of Krug and Bollinger. Toasty, briochey notes meld with honeyed fruit characters, and yet this richness is balanced with a surprising freshness. Lovely."
