Wine Advocate 90 points! The red wines begin with the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon "The Menzies" sourced from Coonawarra. It was aged for 19 months in French and American oak, 45% new. Inky purple-colored, it offers up aromas of toasty oak, eucalyptus, spearmint, and black currants. Clearly the product of a cool climate, it is well balanced, with ripe fruit, moderate levels of tannin, and excellent length. It will evolve for several years and drink well through 2016.

Huon Hooke 93 points!"Improvements in the vineyard have put Menzies, head and shoulders above the old style. Serious weight and depth, fully ripe blackberry, mulberry fruit welded to smart oak in a very ripe, fleshy wine that pushes the envelope."
Huon Hooke, Gourmet Traveller Wine, Jan 2008
Tyson Stelzer 93 points!"If you haven't caught up with Menzies for some years, now is the time to reacquaint yourself, because you're in for quite a surprise. This wine reads like the Cabernet entry in a wine textbook, with leafy notes that heighton the nose and grippy tannins to power the palate."
Tyson Stelzer, WBM April 2008.
