Wine Front 94+ Points!"Hung out in large format oak with no malo, sat on lees, natural ferment to kick things off. Tom Carson says 'we're trying to find an uncluttered expression of the vineyard'. I reckon it's on the way there. Sure does have some individual postcode, but of course picking and winemaking precision does intervene in style. Comes off as friskier fruit, you get that in the bottle. Only 950 bottles made of this gear.
A mallow sweetness seems obtuse but the wine quickly gets steely and struck-quartz minerality when you dig into the bouquet. An innuendo of matchstick and flint comes back as a muted, but lovely reduction in the palate then very pristine, white stone fruit, citrus and brisk, high tone sherbet acidity to finish. Very finely tuned, very compact and very intense but with an incredible reserve and an unfurling of fancy, lightly spiced oak. Not for the sprinters, but still lovely in youthful exuberance."
