James Halliday 97 points!

Planted in '54 making this the oldest surviving cabernet sauvignon site in Coonawarra. A mere 60 years later, it makes its debut as a single vineyard wine bringing forth its unique elements that centre on savouriness. The excellent colour a given, so, too the fragrance of fruit, florals and flowers. But the palate is key - all poise with vitality and quite distinct tannins - more textured like raw silk.

James Halliday Wine Companion, August 2017

Each vintage we select a premium parcel from a single vineyard to bottle separately. The Johnsons Block was first bottled as a Shiraz/Cabernet blend in 2003, and again in 2004. This is the first release of Johnsons Block Cabernet Sauvignon as a single parcel. Planted in 1954, Johnsons Block is the oldest surviving Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard in Coonawarra. These heritage vines produce a distinctively fine and aromatic, dark fruited wine each year. 2014 was a great season for this historic vineyard and it is fitting that we acknowledge it as our single vineyard release.
