"The name “Kalkstein” does not come out of the blue. The grapes for this terrific wine come from a soil with an extremely high content of limestone. The result is that the carefully hand-harvested Riesling grapes convey an elegant mineral and almost salty taste and texture in the wine. In the scent, you can also detect a discreet and light sweetness ala fresh honeydew melon. In order to maintain the highest possible quality in their wines, biodynamic Weingut Wittmann works with low harvest yields, where the grapes are carefully selected with good, old-fashioned manual labor.
