Old Strangways played cricket for South Australia ... which got me thinking about my own cricketing career. In my junior years I spent about seven years behind the stumps. Wicket keeper and opening batsman. Think of me as the Adam Gilchrist of junior Melbourne western suburbs cricket if you like " I'm not fussed. Anyway, in all those years, I reckon I only took two catches. As a wicket keeper. Total. And yet for the life of me, I can't remember dropping any. My conclusion ... the bowlers I was keeping to, pretty much never caught the outside edge.
I digress.
Walsh tasted this wine too. He wrote: Nice yummy oak, blue and boysenberry, bit of plum. Smooth but not plush, nor the typical mid-palate swell of RSW. More refined and perhaps oak driven, but still a nice sort of wine. Not for long ageing but stylish. Done well out of the vintage.
I can't add much to that, except that I rate it slightly higher than he. It takes some time to unfurl in the glass, but it's rich and sweet-fruited and yum."

"Sumptuous, elegant McLaren Vale shiraz of depth and character. harvested without a hint of overripeness, it's wild, heady and very spicy, with a spicy bouquet of dark plums and berries, licorice and dark olives backed by a whiff of currant and lightly toasty aromatic new oak. It drips with intense dark fruit that sinks back into a velvet cushion of fine, supple tannins, finishing with length, lusciousness and surprising suppleness. Drink from 2015 to 2019+"
