[SOLD-OUT] William Downie Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2012

Tyson Stelzer 96 points!

William Downie's Victorian pinots are delicate expressions of this fascinating grape. This Yarra version is refined with appealing softness mid-palate.
The Age Epicure, 11th June 2013.
There's certainly an earthiness to the wine " savoury, dusty aromas over red and black cherry fruit, almost smoky. It's a very delicate wine to taste " super light, the use of ethereal is played out in wine writing, but it applies here; gossamer textured, fine threads of tannin, great length of flavour and a bright, clean, refreshing finish. Purity of fruit flavour is high, it's sort of washy in a way, and thankfully oak presence, though cedary, is recessed. This is pretty wine, lacy wine, and a light-on-its-feet expression.
Mike Bennie, Wine Front, 28 March 2013.

Reaching 10 years of age, these vines tap into an unusual belt of Yarra granite for deeply textured, finely structured, silky tannins which juxtapose elegant, delicate perfume.
