“A straight Cabernet Sauvignon from the 1920 Eastern and 1975 vineyards. Likely much to the horror of many a Wendouree drinker, I just pour these wines into a big glass, and write them up almost straight away. I think they are very specific and open in personality, and as a result, quite easy to review.
Here’s a wine for the Cabernet fancier to lock horns with. Blackcurrant, redcurrant, cedar and camphor chest, black olive and tobacco. It’s perfumed and serious, and lays its cards down on the club table for all to see. Medium to full bodied, firm and sinewy, bright bustling boysenberrie-d acidity, firm minerally tannin, straight-down-the-line flavour of small berries, intense grip and length. Tobacco and dried flowers in the aftertaste. Smashing wine. Really quite something. Will live forever.” - Gary Walsh, Wine Front
