A REGARDED PRODUCER MAKING QUINTESSENTIAL AND DELICIOUS WINE FROM THE VALPOLICELLA CLASSICO ZONE
"Viviani's Valpolicella Classico is a blend of 70% Corvina and 30% Rondinella from vines between 10-80 years old. A bright ruby-red wine, it has a lively bouquet with hints of red fruits and fresh, floral notes that give an extraordinary aromatic finesse. While this Valpolicella isn't full-bodied, there is a nice weight to the wine which gives it an extra density and structure that is beautifully balanced with the wine's energy. The finish is long and refreshing.
Claudio Viviani, along with his wife, Sandra, and his family, farm 10 hectares of vineyards in the hamlet of Mazzano in the historic Valpolicella Classico zone. Mazzano is such a highly-regarded area that the Italian food and wine publication Gambero Rosso has listed it as a Premiere Cru in a hypothetical Valpolicella classification. Here, the vineyards of Viviani sit at some of the highest elevations in the region, 345-450 meters above sea level, on soils of limestone mixed with fossilized pink coral.
Viviani Vineyard has also been awarded One Red Star by Gambero Rosso. Gambero Rosso awards a red star to producers that have won at least ten ‘Tre Bicchieri’ awards in 25 editions of Italian wines, signifying that they are; ‘the elite, the aristocracy. In short, the very top flight of Italian wine.’' - Winery
