"Cooler, wetter years are often not so much of a problem for Vat 47. This has fine bones, but also has flavour to go with it. Green melon, lemon and lime, slight herbal perfume, gentle vanilla nougat and cedar spice oak. Medium bodied, light chalky texture, lovely well settled acidity, almost a delicacy to it, then a tight and very long citrus and Thai basil infused finish. There’s so much to like about this wine. "

"The fruit was handpicked before immediately being 100% basket pressed. The juice was cold settled for two days before fermentation was initiated in stainless steel tanks, then the fermenting juice was transferred to French Oak barriques (20% new). The wine stayed in these barriques until October before it was blended and coarse filtered into bottle.

A fine example of modern Hunter Valley Chardonnay, medium bodied with slightly struck flint yeast character, a slight spiciness with grapefruit overtones. The palate is delicate, yet rich, round creamy fruit of great texture and mouthfeel persist, which ties in nicely with the soft French Oak balance and clean acid structure."
