[SOLD-OUT] Two Tonne Tasmania The Dog and The Wolf Pinot Noir 2017

Wine Front 96+ Points!

"Two parcels, first one picked a little earlier and 40% whole bunch. The other component is 100% whole bunch. Winemaker Ricky Evans is quietly going about planting and growing his own vineyard site – could cause bedlam when it reaches maturity if he is working at this pace. I don’t want him to come home to a red carpet and bigger head than usual (joking, Ricky Bobby), but cripes, his form so far with these wines is outstanding. It’s wonderful to see producers like him, Holyman, Mewstone, Stefano Lubiana and Dr Edge working to more savoury, tannin shaped wines amongst many pinot noir iterations more ripe/sweet/Otago-esque and come hither from Tasmania.

Beautiful perfume here. Everything feels delicate but ultra-fragrant, sour cherries, rose petals, some wild briary notes, fennel, undergrowth. Incredible. So beautiful and savoury. Great shape in the palate, crisp tannins, more sour cherry and herbal stuff, light sappiness and then a drawstring pulling tight on the bergamot-tinged tannins. Exceptional feel. Tasmania, pinot noir, elegance, strictness, excitement. Yowsers."

Mike Bennie, Wine Front, June 2018

"The 2017 Dog & Wolf Pinot Noir is a combination of two parcels of fruit. The first, picked early, comes from a previously derelict vineyard, with super low yields, intense flavour, and concentration, made more in the house style, 40% whole bunch this year. The second, taken a little later, is 100% whole bunch, a wilder expression. Together these sit side by side in maturation, until being blended to find balance between power and elegance, creating ‘the dog & wolf’. Production is limited to the quality of the season. Bottled without fining or filtration."
