"Two Hands Ares Shiraz is made from grapes grown in the McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley regions, and it's matured in 100 percent new French oak. This 2007 is precisely in the mould of previous releases. It's velvety and sweet and totally delicious. It tastes of coal and blackcurrant, with jammy blackberry and licorice laid on. Cedary, hay-like oak plays a part, though the density of fruit flavour wins the day. Not a great deal of fragrance, strangely enough, but a load of flavour. It carries a nice lick of tannin and yet it simultaneously feels loose-knit, supple and ready to drink. It will likely age but it will likely be best as a buoyant youngster. Aftertaste is of raspberries and hay. Doubts over its persistence was the only thing stopping me from scoring it higher."
