"Old dry-grown shiraz, 86% Barossa Valley, 14% Eden Valley, matured for 20 months in French oak (12% new). Deep crimson; the wine is archetypal Torbreck style, sweeping away all before its flavours of blackberry, licorice, spice, tar and oak click in, the alcohol just part of the scenery, as are the ripe tannins."

Wine Advocate 94 Points!

"A blend of Shiraz from the Barossa and Eden Valleys, Torbreck's 2016 The Struie brings hints of cracked pepper and mint together with big blueberry fruit, and somehow those turn savory by the long, tannic finish. It's full-bodied and firmly structured, wonderfully aromatic and intoxicatingly complex, and it represents a terrific value in the Torbreck lineup." - Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate (Robert Parker)

Gourmet Traveller 93 Points!

"Has concentrated dark fruits and plenty of sweet oak to match. There's wonderful depth of flavour and the tannins, while quite chewy, fit the context. There's good length, too, and the whole package says 'potential'. Very deep, rich red-purple colour. Ripe clean bouquet, plummy and blackberried. Licorice, too/ The wine is very full-bodied and dence, firm with abundant tannins and strongly built. Archetypal Barossa shiraz."

This Torbreck Shiraz cuvée is a skilful blend of fruit from a 40 year old Eden Valley Shiraz vineyard and an 80 year old Barossa Shiraz vineyard – a marriage of elegance and intensity. The Eden Valley component has an almost unbelievable vibrancy and purity that balances the rich Barossa Valley fruit perfectly. One of the most luscious and concentrated Struie wines we’ve produced, the 2016 illustrates the harmonious combination of both regions, in a wine with layers of dark chocolate characters and defining structure. Nuances of plum, black olive, lavender and plush cherry characters all further enhance the natural elegance and persistence of the fruit quality. The Struie 2016 will certainly age gracefully well into the next decade.
