[SOLD-OUT] Thousand Candles Gathering Field Pinot Noir 2017

Wine Front 93 Points!

"Here’s an interesting wine, and in some respects, tastes perhaps like a place and philosophy, over grape variety. No bad thing either way, but don’t mind me.Perfumed and spicy, with a sappy kind of cherry elixir flavour nuzzling against an earthy/savoury, what you might perhaps call ‘natural wine’ feel. Grainy tannin sits deep and rumbles away insistently, and while there’s a flicker of green herb though the wine, it feels at its core to be fruit driven and that baked beetroot earthy thing gives it an intriguing bass note. It’s interesting and full of personality, and good to drink. In short, I like it very much."

"Our ambition at thousand candles has always been to try and capture the detail of our unique vineyard site in the wines we produce. The aim is to have an extremely healthy and well balanced soil. This management system has enabled us to not rely on herbicides, heavy pesticides and synthetic fertilisers to grow our fruit. This biological farming approach has led to the fruit and resultant wines to best express the truth of where they have come from and the influence of the seasons.

Aromatic floral notes and red fruit on the nose, an earthy palate, with an undertow of dusty cherries, red berries and pomegranate. Some chalky tannins and bright acid make this a savoury and structural wine."
