"So the 2017s are clean and bright, not so ripe, but not so lean or perfumed, somewhere in the middle. Wonderful wines. The 15s and 16s can wait.

Dark cherry, touches of game meat, char and toast notes but subtle, whiffs of sweet fruit but the sense is more about savouriness, per se. Succulent in palate, very soft but shape-giving tannins, cranberry lift and pomegranate sour-sweetness. Such a delight. So clean too. So fresh as well. Wonderful."

Mike Bennie, Wine Front, February 2019

"Seven parcels, as the name suggests, different expositions round the Mont de Brouilly – south west and south and east. Owner and winemaker Claude-Edouard Geoffray thinks they may need some north-facing sites if it continues to get hotter.

Bright crimson with a touch of purple at the rim. Spicy and sweet-fruited but with a slight stemmy freshness. Chewy and fresh yet rich and plush, too. Deep, generous fruit. Tangy generous finish. The tannins are perfectly smooth but well structured for a long future. Such freshness. Drink 2020-2030 (JH)"

"The 2017 Côte de Brouilly is superb, unfurling in the glass with aromas of ripe cassis, candied violets and plums. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated, structured around fine-grained but chewy tannins and tangy balancing acids, with considerable depth and substance at the core. The wine is still quite primary and will need some time to come together, but it’s an excellent rendition of this storied cuvée that resembles the 2011 vintage."
