"Very full, dark, near impenetrable black-red colour with youthful purple hues, a little lighter on the rim. The nose is very finely presented and elegantly proportioned with detailed perfumes and aromas of ripe black berried fruits along with violet and black floral fragrances, unfolding layers of black pepper and spices. The purity and detail of the florality are the features of the bouquet. Medium-full bodied, the palate is elegant in proportion and tightly bound with a luscuiysly sweet core of dark red and black berry fruits lifted by dark-red and violet florals, fragrant black pepper, spices and liquorice. The fruit sweetness is the feature, but is well-supported by very fine-grained tannins lending a refined core and positive linearity. The acidity is beautifully integrated and provides the energy for the wine to carry to a very long, elegant, detailed finish of florals and spices. This is a very elegant deliciously luscious Syrah with aromatic detail and a supple, fine-grained structure. Serve with Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine over the next 5-7 years. 25% MS clone, 35% 470, 25% 174 and 15% Chave clone, the fruit 75% from the 'Bullnose' and 25% from the neighbouring 'Isosceles' vineyards, fully destemmed and fermented to 13.5% alc. the wine spending 28 days on skins and aged 15 months in 37% new French oak barriques."

"A dense, classy Syrah with violet, pepper, liquorice and dark berry flavours. Elegant wine with nice acidity and plenty of energy. It has a backbone of ripe tannins that promise good ageing potential. A slightly more edgy Syrah than the usual offerings from Hawke's Bay and all the better for it."
