"Taittinger's NV Brut Folies de la Marquetterie originally derived exclusively from the holdings of the family's historic Château de la Marquetterie in Pierry, but it's now supplemented by other family-held vineyard blocks in Vezernay, Trépail, Mailly, Verzenay, and Hautvillers that are farmed to give riper, more mature fruit. The blend is 55% Pinot Noir, with the balance Chardonnay, and some of the base wines are fermented in wooden foudres. It's one of the more vinous, muscular wines in the range, offering up aromas of red apples, peach, citrus oil and brioche, followed by a full-bodied, deep and structured palate, with excellent concentration, ripe acids and a chalky finish. Despite its gastronomic profile, the most recent disgorgement—based on the 2014 vintage—is still quite tight and will really reward a bit of age on cork." - William Kelley, Wine Advocate
"Folies de la Marquetterie cuvee, a premier champagne from the Taittinger estate. Not only is it just made from juice from the first pressing, but it also has a subtle dominant flavour of Pinot Noir, which adds structure and richness to the wine. This is combined with Chardonnay for a touch of lightness. The blend then spends a period of time maturing in old oak barrels, which are reminiscent of the wood panelling found in the Château...It is the perfect champagne to accompany fine cuisine."
