[SOLD-OUT] Tahbilk 1860 Vines Shiraz 2006

Wine Front 93+ points!
"Handpicked from the 1/2 acre of pre-phylloxera, original old vines of Tahbilk, then fermented in the 100-year-old-plus, big oak vats, before getting a run in French oak for 18 months. 2006 seems to have been a bit of a belter for Tahbilk/Goulburn Valley too. Muted but attractive, layered aromas of wild berry fruits, tobacco, graphite, earth and brambles. The portent is for a wine of concentration and weight, but a surprise in a slight to medium-bodied wine driven by savoury spice overlaying leaner fruit character. A wash of acidity keeps the wine lively, but feels a bit adjunct, though the freshness of the wine is seductive in its youthful expression. Svelte, focussed and on the cusp of elegance with detail of graphite mineral characters, more savoury spice, dried herb notes and the pure, driven, layered fruit of older vines. Impressive in understatement."
