'An elegant, supple and fine-grained pinot noir with layers of perfume and depth. Its spicy perfume of rose petals, dark cherries and plums reveals undertones of forest floor, while its sumptuous and juicy palate is tightly reined by a firm but gentle tannins. Drink 2008-2011+.'
Jeremy Oliver, OnWine.

2003 was the perfect Pinot Noir vintage on the Mornington Peninsula, with small crops of under one tonne to the acre and warm and dry conditions during the growing season and harvest. The fruit arrived at the winery in pristine condition, with small bunches, berries and ripe stalks. Pinot Noir from the oldest vineyards was fermented in small open fermenters with about 25% receiving extended skin maceration, and around 5% being whole bunch fermented. Post ferment it was pressed to French oak (30% new) for malolactic fermentation and ageing with minimal winemaking interference before bottling in March 2004. The 2003 Reserve shows an intensity and purity of fruit reflecting this ideal season, and has structure to reward medium term cellaring. Deep, bright red colour. Aromas of plums, redcurrants and maraschino cherries, with some floral, violet complexity and subtle French oak bouquet. Rich red fruit flavours and a typically generous and silky mid-palate are balanced by good acidity, and fine grain tannins give great length and structure.
