The colour commands attention, and you don't drink with your eyes. The scents from the glass are muted, quiet, briar and forest berries, lathed sandalwood, deep but also fresh. A gorge with a spring in the bottom. That freshness to taste; more anise here, succulent acidity and supple tannins " the weight of the wine would sit in medium-bodied for Barossa from a warm, moderate year like 2012, with bright fruit, a dusting of spice and a thin veil of mouth-coating sweetness. It's really delicious, but the firming pucker through the finish says time will also augur well"
