[SOLD-OUT] Sorrenberg Chardonnay 2005

"I am increasingly leaning towards chardonnay as my new favourite. I love how Australian chardonnays are coming into line with European styles, with increased and nervy acidity. It had been some time since I had tried Sorrenberg Chardonnay, and I was happily reminded of why it has such a good reputation. There is lots of bold ripe fruit in this wine, though it is not flabby thanks to its all so important acid. It was savoury, flavourful and refreshing; with well-balanced good quality oak and nice long length. It wasn't at all lean, and I liked the fact that it was able to match its ripeness with its acid; it was certainly a wine that I wanted to keep drinking. We had this with roast quail and mushroom pasta, and the Sorrenberg managed to cut through those heavy meaty flavours with ease and maintain its integrity. This is an excellent example of an Australian chardonnay."
