The 24th vintage release of the famed Shaw & Smith Sauvignon Blanc and the first by star winemaker Adam Wadewitz.
I like this release. It's very young of course and at this stage it has some sweet, banana-lolly estery notes. They'll blow themselves out before long. It's crisp and apple-ish, limey and more-ish. What I like is how dry it is, how squeaky, how crunchy and then chalky as you swallow. It's so clean it feels polished. It's perfectly pure and best of all, it makes you start thinking about food. It's at its best at the dinner (or lunch) table.

A benchmark for Adelaide Hills sauvignon blanc, Shaw & Smith 2013 fits the succulent house style well. Tropical fruit salad and leafy threads lead into a plump, juicy palate with appetising blackcurrant pastille-like flavours, finishing crisp and zesty.

Not a hair out of place on the smoothly countered S+S Sauv Blanc. Lime juice squeezed on tropical fruit salad but with interest for cork dorks through chalk-like minerality and a zing of fairly saline acidity. Feels finely wrought but expressive of the region.

Jancis Robinson 17 points!Vibrant gooseberry fruit. Positively buzzes with energy. Has great texture too - more chewiness than your standard Sauvignon. Fine grained. Could very easily be from the Loire.
