[SOLD-OUT] Seppelt Para-100 Year Port 1899

When the magnificent stone Seppeltsfield Port Store was completed in 1878, Benno Seppelt selected a puncheon (500 litre barrel) of his finest port wine from that vintage. He then decreed that it remain untouched for 100 years before being opened and released. This tradition of laying down the finest puncheon from each vintage has continued every year since 1878 and now Seppelt has the world's most significant stock of consecutive vintages of tawny port. When Benno's original puncheon was opened in 1978, wine experts were quick to recognise that a truly great tradition had been established. Each year since, another puncheon of this incredibly rare and expensive port has been released, much to the delight of connoisseurs all over the world. This unique 100 year old port, named after the Para River in the Barossa Valley, acknowledges Benno Seppelt's faith in the future of the Australian wine industry. Para 100 year old port is believed to be made from Mourvedre, Shiraz, Cabernet and Grenache from the Seppeltsfield vineyards in the Barossa Valley.
