Wine List/Seppelt

[SOLD-OUT] Seppelt Dorrien Cabernet Sauvignon 1999

The growing season started well with just the right amount of rain to accompany budburst in September. Rain in November and December was enough to maintain very healthy vine growth. Summer was sufficiently dry, with the heat increasing after the New Year right up until the quenching rains of mid March. Harvest went very well, lower yields translated to fruit of exceptional quality. The wine was barrel aged for 10 months in new oak, predominantly French (60%) with a component of American (40%). Deep rich purple. Displays an almost opaque, velvety concentration of red. The nose displays ripe Barossa Cabernet characters of blackcurrant and earthiness, with strong elements of vanillin oak. A full-bodied wine that has as much fruit as it does oak. The 99 Dorrien reflects the lean vintage year with intensely concentrated berry fruit flavours that are perfectly balanced with charry oak characters. Peak Drinking: 2008 - 2018 Alc/Vol: 13.5%.
