"Lively, zesty and floral Riesling from Central Otago. With the refreshing and zesty elements initially drawing your attention, it's the florals which keep you engrossed. White flowers and a subtle hint of bergamot are such a treat in this delicious wine. Could be had now, but has a lot of exciting places to go if given the time!" - Wine House
"Greg Lane and Sarah Adamson’s love affair is a story common among vintners. But the superb drinks they make under their Scout label in New Zealand are unusual.
Their Scout label is named after the narrator of To Kill a Mockingbird, a character who is “both a questioner and an observer”. The pair tell me the inspiration for the name came when Adamson was working at Deviation Road winery in the Adelaide Hills, and Lane was at nearby Shaw + Smith.
I first tasted the pair’s Scout wines a couple of years ago and was hugely impressed by both the consistency – all the wines in the range were and are good – and by their adventurous restraint. They’re quirky and minimally handled enough to appeal to the natural-wine crowd, but also refined and detailed enough to appeal to a more classically inclined wine drinker." - Max Allen
