Saltram The Journal Shiraz 2016

POWER AND ELEGANCE, A SHIRAZ FROM ONE OF BAROSSA'S OLDEST VINEYARDS

"Dense, brooding and old vine-vinous. Malty oak. Clove, black plum, five-spice, violet and mocha. The power cannot be denied. This needs time." - Wine Companion

"This powerful Shiraz has grace that befits the era of its original 1901 vineyard plantings. Fine, unwavering grainy tannins provide extraordinary length and persistence on the palate. A medium bodied wine with lingering brambly fruit reminiscent of wild strawberries and cherry pith present a depth and intensity that unveils the elegance of this wine.

Planting his first vines in the Barossa in 1859, William Salter meticulously kept a journal to record his vineyard and winemaking activities, including techniques still used by Saltram today. The Journal Shiraz is a tribute to Salter's attention to detail and his quest to make the best quality Shiraz under the Saltram name.

This Single Vineyard wine is classified as a Centenarian under the Barossa Old Vine Charter due to the vine age exceeding 100 years. A precious tribute to our rich Barossa history." - Saltram
