"Been a while between drinks tasting a range of wines from Rolf Binder, but great to see a line-up this week. There's an old school sensibility to the wines, not afraid to use a whack of oak and eking out tannin from wood too. Spicy, reductive wines across the board, but the vin de garde feel is just-so and good, for the most part. Fruit sources are generally pretty good to exceptional too. Rolf a great man in his own right. This wine sees a combo of French and US oak.
Richer, concentrated style, shows smoky oak and a touch of nougat. Has some fruity fruitiness, a clip of tangy acidity, coupled to smooth roll of oak sweetness. Good length of flavour here, touch coarse but has a great personality and a drinkability that rates pretty high. Bigger personality, but done pretty well."
