[SOLD-OUT] Rogues Lane Contraband Shiraz Malbec 2009

IT NEVER LEFT THE WINERY! A RE-RELEASE OF THE CULT WINERY'S MOUTHCOATING, RIPE SHIRAZ BLEND - WITH 15 YEARS AGING

"Rogue’s Lane Shiraz offers an authentic wine with lots of soul and exceptional value given its age. The vineyard is situated at the southern end of the Heathcote wine region on Wild Duck Creek and the first crop was harvested in 1998. The first couple of vintages of Rogue’s were produced at Wild Duck Creek with the following releases be handled by John Ellis at Hanging Rock.

Whilst this can definitely be enjoyed now, it still has the stuffing to age! It display dried violets, black olive and smooth layers of Shiraz fruit, spice, soft wood and savoury tones, absolutely delicious with grilled meats and a reminder of how good Heathcote can be, especially with some age. The wine is rich and ripe, but also sublimely balanced due to the chilly nights as once the sun sets, which is relatively early on this site, the vines get refreshed." - Distributor

"Planted in 1998 by the Docker family in the Wild Duck Creek sub-region of Heathcote, Rogue's Lane built a cult following through the 2000s with wine sold almost exclusively through mailing list or by fronting up at the winery. Their style was robust and hedonistic with abundant, ripe fruit flavour. Mouthcoating still, even after fifteen years, this remarkable wine now also features the savoury tones of age. The Malbec has held the colour of the wine and added plum coulis notes to the aged Shiraz flavours of leather, blackberry jam and olive.

These bottles have been in the Dockers' possession since bottling. We're talking about a wine which fetched anywhere from $70-100 on release, and offers incredible integrity and quality at this price." - Wine House
