[SOLD-OUT] Rives-Blanques Blanc de Blancs 2013

"Absolutely delightful &ndash who needs Champagne?"
&ndash Jancis Robinson&rsquo s Purple Pages

Variety: Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc
AOC: Limoux, Languedoc

"Sustainable viticulture (Terra Vitis). From 25 – 55 year old vines grown at 380m altitude. Our Blanc de Blancs is a chardonnay-based mouthful of pure pleasure. A second fermentation in the bottle is followed by at least two years on the lees. Just  1 gm/l dosage. Delicately rounded and creamy, with fresh acidity on the finish.  A lovely glass of wine.Elegant, fresh and zingy, this wine is sure proof why Limoux has been so famous for its fizz ever since medieval times.

Limoux has long been acknowledged as the fizz capital of the South of France, with written references to its Blanquette de Limoux dating back to 1544, making it the world’s first sparkling wine, and the oldest appellation of the Languedoc. We are proud to continue a tradition which goes back hundreds of years, long before Champagne was even invented. Crémant is a fairly recent addition to the appellation. Because we generally have ‘good’ harvests, all our sparkling wines are always single-vintages. We are proud to say that every vintage without exception has been selected by the top French wine guides and included among the "best bottles of the millesime" in La Revue de Vin de France."

"Bubbles are not the tiniest. This doesn’t smell at all champagne-like – and why should it? You are very aware of the Chenin component. Light and delicate. Well-made and well-balanced fizz."
