“Someone asked me the other day something to the tune of ‘who are the next generation of newer generation producers who will truly create a legacy in Australian wine, not just those in the avant garde creating waves now, but making wines and wine styles that will sustain and be part of the fabric of ‘fine wine’ culture in Australia’s future’, or something to that thought. I came to a few, Mac Forbes, Luke Lambert, Syrahmi (Adam Foster), Sami-Odi (Fraser McKinley), but it feels only like a handful at present, and sure, there are possibly more to come… but I would put Ravensworth and Bryan Martin firmly in the list. No misses from him. Building a formidable argument to prestige.

Beautiful, delicious wine this. Silken texture, tightly wound but with a give of mouthwatering fruit flavour and incredible, harem-like perfume of pot pourri, fangipani, red fruits, incense and garam masala spice. That texture, whoa, Canberra District’s greatest ally when shiraz (with or without viognier) is on song – sleek, sheathed in finest lacy tannins, long and so fine. It’s joyous in fruit expression but shows savoury, spicy detail and finishes with a floral, pretty mouth perfume that lingers. So good.
