"Displaying a lighter, red-fruited and carbonic nose, the 2018 Vinum Pinotage opens with a fresh and free attitude about it, with wild cherry, strawberries and red plum wafting from the glass along with subtle spice notes and fresh red flowers. Medium-bodied, the palate is tight with bright red fruit that gets its lift from the high-toned red fruit and carbonic essence. The soft spice tones and tannins make their way to the front of the palate on the finish. It's an open-knit and accessible wine that didn't see any new oak; it is ready to be enjoyed now, so splash it in your glass and give it try with pizza night." - Wine Advocate
"Super-fragrant and inviting with pure dark fruit and a note that is typical of some carbonic maceration – a slight floral sweetness – and a dustiness like crushed rocks. Juicy and vibrant on the palate, quite a grip but the tannins are chalky and fine not grainy. Cool and fresh and light on its feet but with richer fruit on the mid palate than I expected. It has a riper fruit profile than the 2016 Frankenstein Pinotage just tasted, so that it seems more typically Pinotage. Careful restraint in the winemaking here and good length. A distinctive and delicious wine that should be versatile at the table. Chewy fresh finish. I am not sure how this will age so my dates are conservative, partly because it is already lovely." - Jancis Robinson
