Wine List/Produttori del Barbaresco

[SOLD-OUT] Produttori del Barbaresco Langhe Nebbiolo 2014

Made as an entry level wine, this 100% Nebbiolo kicks well above its weight. At a tasting held recently by the winemakers in Melbourne, this jumped out to us as a classic expression of Nebbiolo offering value for money - especially considering the quality Barbaresco-classified terroir from which it is sourced. In good vintages this Nebbiolo is capable of going into higher tier wines so must not be considered inferior. Instead it is released younger without the requisite aging requirements of Barbaresco, although the fine tannin profile and vibrancy of fruit commands your attention for its sheer drinkability.

Wine House

Effectively, this is a second label for the Barbaresco and it is made with the grapes from young vines or those vineyards that produced a less intense and concentrated juice. Although it still has the quality necessary to be classified as Barbaresco, the winery declassifies it in order to sell it at a younger age and maintain the Barbaresco quality as high as possible. Intriguing floral complexity combined with softer red fruits and darker spices, the palate is refined with fine tannins adding balance and delicate spice characters adding complexity.
