From the Cooinda Vale vineyard, established in 1985, though the average vine age here is 18 years: old enough to vote. It's the new name for the wine formerly known as Coal River Pinot.
Dried rose and tea leaf perfume, spice, cherries and plum. Light to medium bodied, silky, almost slippery texture and fine unobtrusive acidity, spiced dark cherry flavours with subtle peat and undergrowth underneath. Develops some of that 'mineral' feel as it relaxes in the glass. Slinks off on the finish somewhat, rather than making a grand exit, but its unforced feel and graceful character win me over.
