"A well-handled wine that is not quite up to its usual exemplary standard. Its smoky fragrance of grapefruit, lime juice and clove-like oak reveals just a hint of spice and spikiness. Smooth and juicy, its tightly focused palate of citrus, tropical fruit and melon-like flavours are backed by undertones of minerals, butterscotch, bacon and meaty smallgoods-like influences. It finishes slightly sweet with a hint of sourness, suggesting a similar (and possibly stuck ferment) issue to that found in the Cullen Chardonnay of 2003 and other Margaret River chardonnays from 2004. Drink 2006-2009."
