"As debut wines go, this takes the cake. It's a stunner. It's rowdy with facets and layers and matters to pique your interest. Earth, cranberry, forest floor, meaty tannin. Smoky dried herbs. Sweetness and savouriness, bright seduction in a tethered, firm, disciplined environment. The finish is balanced, juicy, satiny. It's built for the moment; unafraid of its youth, but ready for the future. Needless to say, the bottle was finished all too quickly"

"The 2012 Philippa Farr Pinot Noir has a pallid mid-red appearance and offers red ripe cherry-scented pinot fruits with a layer of fragrant spicy lift (aided by an inclusion of 30% whole bunches). There's fresh toasty oak in the mix and a mere hint of something more undergrowthy, herbal and earthy to come. The palate delivers bright crunchy and ripe pinot flavour in the red fruit sprectrum amid a sheen of finely textured tannin of genuine depth. It is already drinking well but should develop plenty of savoury complexity over the mid-term."
