Wine Front 94+ Points!
Made entirely from estate fruit grown in the Adelaide suburb of Magill. French and American Oak (seemed all French to me), hand picked, basket pressed, unfiltered, around 1,500 case production. All the ticks for an artisan wine, but from a large company.
Brooding dark colour. Aromas of blackberry/dark cherry, earth, cold coffee and toast – perhaps some floral overtones. Lots of impact on the palate with masses of ripe creamy tannin and flavours of blackberry, toasty oak, black olive and leather. Long tannic finish. A dense and savoury wine, yet it has finesse – a bit like a St Henri.
