[SOLD-OUT] Penfolds Magill Shiraz 1991

This wine is from the historic Magill Estate Vineyard, located in the Adelaide foothills of South Australia. This was the first vineyard established by Dr. Christopher Rawson Penfold in 1844. The vineyard is now 6 hectares in size and consists entirely of Shiraz vines, aged between 25 and 45 years. An outstanding vintage in 1991 has resulted in another superb Magill Estate Shiraz. The wine displays an excellent depth of attractive, brick-red colour. Powerful bouquet showing rich, complex aromas of ripe berry, plum and spicy Shiraz fruit with toasty, vanillin oak. More complex nuances emerge with time in the glass. The wine is rich and complex with a silky, seamless palate showing mouth filling plum, spice and liquorice-like varietal fruit flavours and superbly integrated oak, together with soft, yet noticeable, tannins and great length. A harmonious continuum of well-balanced flavours is a key feature of the wine. It is an elegant and medium bodied style that is skilfully crafted, showing soft and generous flavours.
